In August, 1962, Deane visited Fort Polk, Vernon Parish, Louisiana to report on the 39th Division of the Arkansas National Guard, a parade and ceremony. Captain Richard Medford (left) and Sergeant William Hensley Jr., both of Mena, Polk County, Arkansas, accepted a plaque and trophy as an award for excellence of maintenance equipment for the Combat Support Company of the First Battle Group, Mena, Polk County, Arkansas.
